Charleston houses, and what each one asks of a painter
Single houses and homes with piazzas
The long side porches called piazzas have columns, balustrades, decks and ceilings, often each in its own color. The City of Charleston's color form lists them one by one. More pieces mean more prep, more cutting-in and more access work.
Elevated coastal homes
Elevated homes, like our Kiawah Island estate and the home on Mary Ellen Drive, have porches stacked on two or three levels and an exposed foundation that gets painted too. Salt air and sun work on every side.
Historic homes in Old Village and downtown
In historic districts, colors can need approval before work starts, and older paint can contain lead. Our Old Village home of 4,307 sq ft kept its wraparound porch, columns and railings in their traditional look.
New construction
On builds like the Park West home and the Mount Pleasant modern farmhouse, we painted during construction and worked to the builder's schedule.
Modern infill and bold color
The Downtown Charleston townhouse went charcoal inside and out, and a brick house in Coosaw Creek went from red brick to pale green.

Everything we paint in a home
- Exterior house painting: siding, trim, porches, shutters, doors, brick and stucco.
- Interior painting: walls, ceilings, trim, stairs and accent walls, with drywall patching.
- Cabinet painting: kitchens and built-ins.
- Epoxy flooring for garages and basements.
- Specialty finishes: wood staining, texture and decorative painting, like the stained wood plank ceilings in several of our coastal homes.
What homeowners say after the job
Across the reviews published on this site and on Google, the same points come up: crews that showed up on time, kept the house clean and treated it with respect, a detailed quote, and a fair price.
One homeowner noted that the crew covered the neighbors' cars while painting the outside of a new house; another hired us after a recommendation from someone they trusted.

What sets the price of painting a house
We do not publish prices. A whole-house estimate depends on:
- square footage, number of stories and whether the home is elevated;
- inside, outside or both, and which surfaces are in scope;
- prep and repairs: peeling paint, rotted wood, drywall damage;
- colors: how many, and how far they are from the current ones;
- approvals from a historic board or an HOA;
- for homes built before 1978, lead-safe work practices.
Homes we paint around Charleston

Before you hire a house painter
How do I find a good painter for my house?
Get two or three estimates that list the same scope, ask each company for its state registration number and certificate of insurance, and look at homes they have finished near you. A company that publishes its projects with addresses or neighborhoods makes that easy.
Can you paint the inside and outside at the same time?
Yes. Many of our projects were interior and exterior together, which lets one schedule cover the whole house.
What are the colorful houses in Charleston called?
Rainbow Row, the row of pastel historic houses on East Bay Street. Painting a house in a historic district like that one goes through the city's review process first.
